Statement Of Faith

OUR BELIEFS A statement of faith held by Grace Church

1) We believe the Bible is the verbally inspired word of God, absolutely without error in the original writings and God's means of revealing Himself and His purposes to humankind for life, faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21; Proverbs 30:5-6; 1 Thessalonians 2:13)

2) We believe there is one true and living God, known in three Persons being the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one in essence, of infinite power, wisdom, goodness. holiness and love and each equally deserving worship and obedience. (Isaiah 45: 5-7; Deuteronomy 6:4; John 4:24; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

3) We believe God reveals Himself completely in the sinless life, vicarious death, resurrection and ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, who came in bodily form by incarnation through a virgin, and whom He has declared as the Saviour of the world. (Hebrews 1:3-5; John 4:25-26, 42; Matthew 1:23; 2 Corinthians 5:2 1; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 Corinthians 15:20)

4) We believe in the Holy Spirit, who convicts the world of sin, acts as the supernatural sovereign Agent in regeneration who, at the moment of salvation, baptizes all believers into the Body of Christ, indwells, sanctifies, instructs, empowers them for service and seals them unto the day of redemption. (John 16:7 -9; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Acts 1:5; Ephesians 2:22; Romans 8:9; John 17:17; John 16:13-14; 2 Corinthians 3:6; Ephesians 1:13-14)

5) We believe that every person is created in the image of God, has committed sin against God and so is separated from Him. (Romans 3:23; 5:12; Gen 1:27)

6) We believe all who repent, trust and believe God in faith are forgiven of their sins and redeemed. This salvation is wholly of God and His grace on the basis of the redeeming work of Jesus Christ and the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 2:38; John 16:8-14; 1 Peter 1:2; Ephesians 4:30)

7) We believe that at the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the living and the dead will be judged whereby the saved to eternal life and the unsaved to everlasting punishment. (John 5:28-29; Acts 17:31; Daniel 12:2; Revelations 20:13-15)

8) We believe that water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church as the Lord Jesus Christ has instituted and not to be regarded as a means of salvation. (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 8:35-38; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

9) We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church of which each local church is a part, given the commission to advance and communicate the gospel to the entire world. (Colossians 1:18; Matthew 28:19; Acts 1:8; 2:42)
